About Sendense
Sendense provides enterprise backup, recovery and disaster recovery for Apache CloudStack and mixed virtual infrastructure, with cross-platform replication and migration built in. The platform protects workloads across Apache CloudStack, VMware, Nutanix AHV, Azure, OSSEA and physical servers, writing backup data to Enterprise Block Archive (EBA) — Sendense’s deduplicated, immutable repository.
For cloud providers and MSPs, Sendense underpins Backup as a Service and Disaster Recovery as a Service. And because migration is part of the same protection platform rather than a separate tool, a workload can be protected on VMware, replicated to Apache CloudStack, failed over, and continue being protected after the move — retaining its backup history and lineage across both the source and destination environments. Sendense is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
Why we’re joining the CloudStack Collaboration Conference
Apache CloudStack is a first-class platform in Sendense. The platform integrates with CloudStack at the storage layer — with storage-level change tracking for backends such as ZFS, QCOW2, LINSTOR and NFS, and agentless change tracking for everything else — so that backup, replication and recovery behave the same way whatever the backend. A large part of our work is with cloud providers and MSPs who run CloudStack and deliver backup, disaster recovery and migration services on top of it.
This year, many organisations are re-evaluating their VMware estates, and Apache CloudStack is where a growing number of those workloads are heading. We’ve spent the past year helping providers move production VMware estates into CloudStack clouds — and, just as importantly, keep those workloads protected before, during and after the move. The Collaboration Conference is where the operators, architects and engineers doing that work actually are, and we’re pleased to support the event and the community around it as a sponsor.
What to expect from us in Edinburgh
We’ll be at our booth throughout the conference with live demonstrations of backup, replication, failover and migration across CloudStack, VMware and mixed infrastructure — come and talk to us about VMware exit, BaaS and DRaaS on CloudStack, or protecting workloads across platforms. We’re also presenting two sessions:
- A 30-minute stage talk — “From VMware to Protected CloudStack: Migration, Recovery and Backup Without Breaking the Chain” — presented by Alex Tatham, Chief Revenue Officer, on using one protection platform across the complete workload lifecycle: protect on VMware, replicate into CloudStack, fail over, and keep protecting after cutover, drawing on a real UK production migration completed in 14 days.
- A live technical workshop — “Live Lab: Protecting VMware, Failing Over to CloudStack and Preserving Backup Lineage” — presented by Peter Grayson, Chief Technology Officer, and Gavin Young, Chief Executive Officer: a hands-on session run against real remote VMware and CloudStack environments, with real VMs, real backup and replication jobs, live failover into CloudStack, continued protection afterwards, and recovery validation with boot evidence and file-level restore.
Both sessions are aimed at CloudStack operators, cloud providers, MSPs, architects and infrastructure engineers — the workshop in particular is deliberately practical: the workflow is shown live, not on slides.
Who you’ll meet
Sendense is bringing its senior team to Edinburgh. Alex Tatham, Chief Revenue Officer, is one of the UK’s most recognisable channel industry executives, having led the £5bn-revenue distributor Westcoast until its sale to Also in July 2024; he now works with Sendense, helping to bring the platform to a wider market (LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/alex-ch-tatham). Peter Grayson, Chief Technology Officer, leads product and technical strategy for the platform, and Gavin Young, Chief Executive Officer, will join him presenting the live workshop and on the booth throughout the event.
